COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
養身班 TAI
CHI FOR HEALTH (BASIC LEVEL)
These
classes are suitable for complete beginners and will include a brief
introduction to the Shen Long school of Traditional Tai Chi and how it may
differ from other schools. Emphasis will be on correct posture, breathing,
balance and, most importantly, relaxation. Students will learn basic Tai Chi
exercises and study the first section of the Tai Chi 37 Forms (Forms 1-13).
They will also learn some special Qigong (Chikung) exercises to develop
internal energy that is an essential part of Traditional Tai Chi.
進階班 ADVANCED TAI CHI FORMS (INTERMEDIATE LEVEL)
These classes are for students who have completed the
Tai Chi for Health course and will begin the forms of the second section (Forms
14-37), which progressively increase in difficulty. Additional exercises
will be learnt and there will be more emphasis on movement and internal energy
development and circulation.
精修班 DEVELOPING TAI CHI SKILLS (ADVANCED LEVEL)
These
classes are for students who have completed the Traditional Tai Chi 37 Forms. Apart from continued form correction,
students will be introduced to basic sensitivity training, pushing hands and
the concept of Fa Jin and uprooting. They will
learn basic exercises to prepare them for training in pairs. This will be
followed by Pushing Hands training as a solo exercise and with a partner. This
includes single hand and double hand Pushing Hands. Advanced students will also be
able to practice the 37 Forms fluidly. As students progress they will continue
to study the theories and applications of Tai Chi.
NOTE: progressing
to the next level will depend on satisfactory completion at the previous level.
